Mental Training in Polo

For Polo Players

As Polo enthusiast, Kristin is specifically looking into the particular problems Polo players face – as she knows them 1st hand.

There are a couple of factors, that make Polo so special:

Your “sports-equipment” is a living creature;

Your team mates may have very different level of skills;

Your patron is often part of the team, often has a lot less time to train, and also may have a different agenda;

You have to channel your anger in a way that it doesn’t hurt your horse;

You often play in mixed teams;

You often change teams and players, depending on the tournament and handicap needed;

Typical Problems amongst Players:

– You have problems to access your training performance in the game?
– You feel overwhelmed during a game, lose track of your game plan?
– You get under immense pressure hitting penalties?
– Some days you hit like a 10 goaler – some days you can’t hit a single ball?
– You struggle to keep your emotions under control?

What we do:

It all starts with an analysis of your current level of play and the issues you would like to work on.

The most important question: do you need to work on the technical or the mental side of your sport!?

This is crucial, because working on the wrong side of things will just burn you out, but not improve your game!

We then plan the next steps accordingly, with either exercises for your mental strength, or lessons with your Polo trainer!
